Add a realistic touch to your model horse bridles with Rio Rondo's miniature Western bit shanks. Bit shanks are sold by the set (left and right sides), and will add the perfect touch to any miniature bridle.
The bits we offer are actually shanks (no mouthpieces). Use Tacky Wax or Removable Glue Squares to keep the bit shanks in place temporarily... there's no need to saw the mouth open on a perfectly good model!
Our Classic sized bits are for "Large Classic" scale models (although they may fit somewhat smaller molds).
Etched bits are plated brass, and are flat on the back side. Western bits can have decorative conchos or crystals glued upon them to create custom looks.

Cast bits are made from pewter, and feature lots of fine detail and dimensional relief. Check out our Finishing Brochure-BR2 for detailed information on easily polishing and finishing castings.
Pewter bits tend to be a bit larger and more ostentatious than the etched bits, and do require some finishing. Some people prefer them because the metal is softer and somewhat less prone to accidentally scratching a model.
Some advantages of the pewter bits is that they can be bent and altered, shaped, sanded, polished to a high shine, and you can even carve added details in them with a sharp tool (such as a carbide scraper or a dremel bur.)
